Saw this article in the Irish ‘Independent’ just now and thought my God, how horrific….
Horrific it was yes but she didn’t actually flush her baby down the toilet. Of course this rag of a ‘newspaper’ draws you in with a misleading headline so people imagine a scenario before they actually read it (if they do at all). The scenario ends up enduring more than the actual facts though. Job done.
I can just see it.. Mick having a pint with his mate Joe… “Here, Joe, says here a woman flushed her baby down the bog…. “Jaysus, that’s awful, who’d do something like that?” Joe at home later… “Here Mary, Mick told me about some woman who flushes her babies down the loo”. “Lord bless us and save us, what’s the country coming to, they’re letting anyone it these days”.
Know what I mean?
Erm, why is this tagged Cup cakes?
A little joke of mine
Hey Holelmaster, in your last post you said you said you were having a beer at a place called Grogans. Now is that the place’s actual name or were you taking the piss?
Please tell me you were taking the piss.
Nope that’s a real place. A great pub with no music, TVs and lots of really bad art on the wall.
But…Grogans. Does grogan mean the same thing as it does in New Zealand?
Er probably not?
hooookay….. NOW I know.
Shit. I used to have a primary school teacher called Mrs Grogan. The sniggering never went away.
There was boy in school called Michael Hunt.

Yep.
Not as bad as Alex Bollox!
So what’s a grogan, ffs?
A grogan apparently is the bit of poo that’s left hanging.
That makes me ready to start ranting that does, these ‘newspapers’ with their ‘headlines’ that may or may not actually be true but do enough to kick off a debate on the disgrace that may or may not have occurred.
You said it X. And in my opinion Independent Newspapers are probably the worst offenders in Ireland. They relish anything that makes asylum seekers look bad and make a big deal out of fraud involving immigrants. What about much much bigger fraud perpetrated by our politicians and county councillors?
